We'll See Your Stupid Idea And Raise You Another Stupid Idea.

OK!  Now you’re just being stupid!

The White House announced that it was shutting down all public tours of the “Peoples House” until further notice.  They cited the sequestration cuts as the reason.

Really?

Given all the wasteful spending there is in Washington the best they can come up with is to cancel White House tours for school kids and tourists?

There are those that have suggested that the way to force the white House and Congress to act on these budgetary matters is to cancel their paychecks until they agree on a balanced budget.  Unfortunately most of our fearless leaders have used their time in public service to become multi-millionaires.  It is unlikely they would notice if they missed a bi-weekly paycheck.

If you really want to get their attention we would suggest terminating the bi-weekly checks of all White House and congressional staffers.  Give notice that if their bosses don’t reach a balanced budget agreement within thirty days, all White House and congressional staff members will be sent home without pay.  Let’s see how our elected leaders deal with the possibility of having to fetch their own coffee and dry cleaning.

Of course this would never happen.  Congress would have to enact the order to cut their wait staff. 

Not gonna’ happen.

But is this idea any more ridiculous than cancelling White House tours?

It would be fun to watch though…wouldn’t it?
